2024 IIHF World Championship

The Czech Republic will host the 2024 IIHF World Championship from May 10th to May 26th. Mark your calendars for this exciting event!

Stages of the Tournament

The entire tournament is divided into different stages: group stages, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

  • Group Stages: As stated above, there are two groups with 8 countries each. In each of the groups, a particular team is required to play the other teams once, totalling 28 matches for each group and 56 matches for the whole group stage matches. Two matches, one from group A and another for group B will be played simultaneously at different Hockey pitches.
  • Quarter-Finals: After the group stages, only the first four teams on the standings from each of the groups qualifies to the quarter-finals. The entire quarter-final matches are played on the 23th of May. The fixtures are drawn inversely between the two groups
  • Semi-Finals: The four winners from the quarter-finals will play out the semi-finals on May 25
  • Finals: The final will be between the winners of the semi-final matches and it will be played on May 26
