2021 IIHF World Championship

This Ice Hockey tournament hosted at Switzerland is a competition organised mainly for European nations. Other countries which are outside the continent of Europe that are included in the tournament are the United States of America and Kazakhstan. A total of 16 countries are scheduled to compete at the tournament and they are split into two groups, group A and group B, 8 countries each. The entire teams that will be competing at the Ice Hockey Tournament are expected to maintain a fair game throughout the sport event. Some of the European countries that will be contesting at the tournament include Germany, Latvia, Belarus, Italy, Canada, Denmark, etc.

Stages of the Tournament

The entire tournament is divided into different stages: group stages, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

• Group Stages: As stated above, there are two groups with 8 countries each. In each of the groups, a particular team is required to play the other teams once, totalling 28 matches for each group and 56 matches for the whole group stage matches. Two matches, one from group A and another for group B will be played simultaneously at different Hockey pitches.
• Quarter-Finals: After the group stages, only the first four teams on the standings from each of the groups qualifies to the quarter-finals. The entire quarter-final matches are played on the 3rd of Jun. The fixtures are drawn inversely between the two groups
• Semi-Finals: The four winners from the quarter-finals will play out the semi-finals on Jun 5
• Finals: The final will be between the winners of the semi-final matches and it will be played on Jun 6
